Fotoware continues to be recognized in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™

28. November 2025

We’re proud to announce that, once again, Fotoware is recognized in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for DAM solutions. As the only Nordic vendor recognized in the report, we’ve received recognition for our workflow capabilities, industry focus and customer success.

About Gartner® and the Magic Quadrant™

Gartner® is widely regarded as a leading authority in the field of technology research and advisory services. Through its Magic Quadrant™ reports, Gartner provides independent and objective evaluations of software vendors across various markets, empowering organizations to make informed, strategic decisions.

The Magic Quadrants are particularly valued for their rigorous assessment process, which examines vendors’ ability to deliver on core functionalities. In the case of DAM solutions, these include capabilities such as system connectivity, content editing features, and streamlined workflows.

Being included in the Gartner Magic Quadrant is a significant achievement for any software provider. It demonstrates that the vendor not only meets high standards in terms of product capabilities and innovation but also consistently delivers value to its customers. For Fotoware, participation in the Magic Quadrant underscores our commitment to excellence, industry leadership, and our dedication to enabling organizations to maximize the value of their digital assets.

— “Being recognized by Gartner is something we take very seriously. This time, we’ve received recognition for our ability to build strong operational workflows, which is highlighted as a critical component for DAM success. At Fotoware, workflow capabilities are of top priority for our products, as this is what ensures consistency, control and compliance throughout the technical ecosystem. It’s essential that such workflows can be customized to fit the specific needs of the customer and that they can scale as operational needs evolve.”

Succeeding as a niche player

For the second time, we’ve been recognized as a niche player in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for DAM solutions. This is a testament to Fotoware’s unique position and specialized approach in the marketplace. To Fotoware, being a niche player is not about limitations, rather, it signifies deep specialization, focusing our innovation and expertise on solving advanced, industry-specific challenges that generic solutions simply cannot address.

Our strength lies in delivering highly customizable DAM solutions that are engineered for organizations with complex operational requirements, such as cultural institutions, manufacturers, media houses, corporate communications teams, and even police and healthcare facilities. Built on a robust foundation, Fotoware’s platforms support seamless integrations and scalable automations that support even the most intricate content structures.

— “Our customers span from international manufacturers to media houses and even police, requiring both Fotoware and our solutions to be secure, agile and highly scalable. These organizations are not content with simple keyword hierarchies and manual tagging but often require customized automations and a high level of data governance and control.”

This focus allows Fotoware to deliver advanced automation tools and powerful data governance capabilities. Rather than provide a one-size-fits-all platform, Fotoware tailors every solution to maximize operational efficiency, compliance, and control across the entire organization, which is reflected in the high customer retention rate.

— “We’ve seen first-hand that larger organizations can’t rely on generic solutions to solve company-wide challenges, and as DAM becomes more critical to the central operations, it needs a higher degree of customization and data management capabilities.”

A focus on customer success

In addition to Fotoware’s vertical-specific portfolio and workflow automation capabilities, Gartner also highlights customer success as one of our main strengths. Referring to the consistently high customer retention rates, combined with high-level customer services and support, Gartner recognizes Fotoware as a vendor prioritizing long-term customer collaboration and success.

Having invested heavily in customer success and retention, Fotoware puts the customers at the very center of business priorities, which is reflected in Gartner’s evaluations.

Amongst the initiatives, you’ll find user-forums (like the upcoming Reimagining DAM event in Munich), an in-house team of dedicated DAM advisors, tailored care agreements, and more, ensuring that customers are continuously offered the support and inspiration they need to get the most out of their solution.

DAM trends moving forward

In their report, Gartner® draws attention to a selection of DAM trends, including an increased need for DAMs to take on a more operational role across the organization. The challenge of a content explosion, brought forth by the rise of GenAI, is also mentioned as an area where DAMs are likely to be of increasing importance in the years to come.

Partly because of the severe increase in digital content items, software connectivity, basic editing features and workflow automation are highlighted by Gartner® as the top three DAM capabilities to look out for.

For Fotoware, this aligns well with our business objectives. Having recently launched the DAM automation tool, Flow, we’ve made workflow capabilities a key focus in the years to come. Both Fotoware Alto and Fotoware Veloz have great capabilities when it comes to workflow customization and management, and both products have been recognized for such in the latest Magic Quadrant.

Another trend presented by Gartner® is related to governance, security and compliance, as this will only be of greater importance as AI-generated content continues to flood systems and channels. Being able to efficiently and securely find, access, review and use the right content items will only get more difficult and require systems with secure, stable and scalable platforms.
