DAM United and Fotoware: A decade of DAM integrations
Choosing the right Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution is essential but it’s only the first step. The real impact comes when that technology is implemented, and that needs to be done by someone who understands your environment, adapts it to your goals, and knows how to make your system work seamlessly across your organization.
Since 2013, DAM United has been a trusted partner for Fotoware, supporting customers across industries with the implementation and integration of Fotoware Alto (formerly Picturepark Content Platform). Over the past decade, they’ve delivered a wide range of successful projects together, combining our flexible platforms with DAM United’s extensive technical expertise and customer focus.

Who is DAM United?
Based in Germany, DAM United is a team of DAM specialists with roots dating back to the mid-1990s. They bring a unique mix of experience and deep technical knowledge to their projects.
The team has extensive experience in implementing, integrating, and consulting on DAM platforms, particularly for clients in sectors like e-commerce and manufacturing. Their services include system evaluation, custom development, data modeling, metadata design, and integration with third-party tools. They also offer proprietary tools that enhance and extend DAM functionality, from smart upload portals to export engines and automated metadata enrichment.
And most important: They ensure clients get the best solutions for their needs.
The right partner matters
Today’s DAM requirements are complex. Organizations need more than just a place to store and manage assets. They expect fast performance, scalable solutions, and seamless integration with other tools - whether that’s a CMS, PIM, collaboration platforms or other systems for content management and distribution. And that’s exactly what DAM United delivers.

— “DAM United understands the DAM landscape and brings decades of experience with Fotoware Alto to the table. Their ability to integrate our solutions to fit seamlessly into complex environments is a huge asset to our customers.”
Their collaboration with Fotoware began through an earlier partnership with Picturepark, where they managed and developed integrations and custom solutions for clients. Over the years, DAM United has become a trusted technology partner for Fotoware, handling complex client projects, developing custom interfaces, and providing ongoing consulting.

Examples of projects with Fotoware Alto
While some of DAM United’s projects are confidential, their track record of successful DAM projects speaks for itself:
Enabling a shared upload portal for sport agencies
In one case, a major European sports organization needed an efficient and reliable way to receive and manage photos from national associations. DAM United adapted their existing DAMupload portal to meet the organization’s specific requirements, extending and customizing it for their workflows.
This solution enabled contributors to upload images with the required metadata, after which the system automatically enriched the assets and synchronized them with the organization’s internal databases for accurate tagging and consistent archiving.
Migrating content and complex data structures to SaaS
In another project, a manufacturer for metering and water treatment worked with DAM United to migrate from a legacy Picturepark system to Fotoware Alto. DAM United ran workshops to help them explore the full capabilities of the new platform, managed the content migration, and configured the system to align with the manufacturer’s business rules and metadata structure.
Each project demonstrates how the right combination of platform and integration partner can create a powerful, tailored DAM solution.

— “In terms of metadata modeling, Fotoware is honestly one of the best systems we know. Combined with the strong API, it gives us everything we need to build flexible, powerful solutions for our clients.”

The DAM United and Fotoware collaboration
The success of the partnership is rooted in close communication and a shared focus on solving real problems for customers. The Fotoware and DAM United teams have built a strong working relationship based on transparency and knowledge sharing.
— “Our teams have built close communication channels over the years. We regularly exchange feedback, share product updates, and align on customer needs. This makes the collaboration effective.”
For DAM United, the value of the partnership lies in the mutual commitment to customers, but also in the technology they work with.

— “The overall quality of Fotoware Alto is excellent. You really notice it in the stability and how few bugs there are. When everything just works, that’s when DAM becomes truly valuable for the client.”
Looking ahead
DAM United is focused on one thing: helping customers succeed with smart, scalable, and efficient solutions. Their team remains committed to delivering tailored DAM systems built on Fotoware Alto.— “What motivates us most is making customers happy. There’s nothing better than showing a client their new setup, pressing a button, and everything runs smoothly - just the way it should. And when the client says, ‘This is exactly what we needed,’ that’s the best kind of feedback we can get.”
There’s great value in the trust and collaboration that has developed between the teams. They also see great opportunity in leveraging their technical expertise to support Fotoware Veloz projects in the future, and they continue to explore the product’s capabilities and use cases to expand their offering to meet the needs of clients looking for a fast, workflow-focused DAM.
At the heart of this partnership is a shared vision: close collaboration and a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of customers across industries.
