FotoWare sells software subscriptions and licenses through a global reseller network of Certified Partners, and select products directly on https://shop.fotoware.com.
Try before you buy
We want you to be absolutely certain that you will be satisfied with your FotoWare system, and therefore offer customers a free trial license and encourage customers to test our system prior to purchasing. There are several options for testing our software:
- Register for a free account on our demo system
- Start a pre-configured server instance in the Microsoft Azure cloud with a 30-day trial license
- Download and install a 30-day trial license on your private datacenter or a cloud server of your choice
To give you all possible help when evaluating our software, our trial licenses come with the same benefits as a full subscription: unlimited technical support in the trial period. This offer also extends through our Certified Partners, who can also provide Professional Services in order to set up a Proof of Concept for your specific use cases.
Choose a Subscription if you want maximum flexibility in upgrading/changing products, product levels, and user licenses.
Subscriptions are automatically renewed at the end of the subscription period unless cancelled 30 days prior to the anniversary date. We notify customers of upcoming renewals via email 90 days prior to the anniversary date with clear call-to-action for renewal and cancellation.
Subscriptions include all the same benefits as in a Software Maintenance Agreement.
Some of our products and bundles are exclusively available on Subscription plans.
Perpetual Licenses and Software Maintenance Agreements
A Perpetual License grants you a perpetual license to use a specific version of our software products. A license includes a 12-month warranty period, in which you have access to updates, new versions, and unlimited technical support via e-mail*.
After the expiry of the warranty period, the right to updates, new versions, and technical support can be prolonged through a Software Maintenance Agreement. We will contact you 90-days prior to the expiry of the warranty period with a quote for a Software Maintenance Agreement.
Software Maintenance Agreements are automatically renewed at the end of the subscription period unless cancelled 30 days prior to the anniversary date. We notify customers of upcoming renewals via email 90 days prior to the anniversary date with clear call-to-action for renewal and cancellation.
A Redundancy License allows installation of a secondary system and can be used as failover for a primary system (but not for load-balancing setups). Redundancy licenses are available at 25% of the license cost of the application and can be purchased for individual applications.
You do not need to acquire user licenses for the redundancy system, all licensed users of the production system are licensed to access the redundancy servers in a failover situation.
Redundancy Licenses are only available to customers with an active Software Maintenance Agreement or Subscription.
A Staging License allows a customer to maintain a separate test system for testing of updates and new versions, experiments with configuration, customization, quality assurance, and training.
A Staging system is available for all FotoWare server applications, and is available at 20% of the license cost of the production subscription/license. Staging systems do not include user licenses (but licensed users are permitted to connect to the staging system for non-production use).
Staging Licenses are only available to customers with an active Software Maintenance Agreement or Subscription.
A FotoWare Site License allows use of the entire FotoWare server suite inside an organisation or a company.
Site Licenses are available to customers that need 500 or more named users of FotoStation Client, FotoWeb Plus Users, and/or FotoWeb Pro Users. The Site License includes the right to install and use any number of servers to support the licensed users, and also includes Redundancy and Staging licenses for the system.
Customers enter into Site License Subscription Contract directly with FotoWare, and is invoiced and supported through one of our Certified Partners. Site Licenses are billed on an annual basis with a minimum contract duration of 3 years.
Our products are protected against license violations through internet activation which installs a personalized license certificate on authorized computers. You can administer your licenses and activations 24/7/365 through our self-service Customer Portal.
Server software is licensed for a specific number of servers, and the software must be activated on each server through an internet activation process (offline activation is available by transporting file-based certificates to/from a computer with access to fotoware.com).
User licenses are based on a Named User or Concurrent User models. Concurrent User licenses are maintained by a License Server, and all users must have network access to the License Server when starting the application. Named User licenses can be distributed from a license server, which allows licensed users to access the software from any number of devices, or through an internet based activation process, which also permits offline use.
