Oslo, Norway, September 10, 2020 – Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture, ranks FotoWare as one of the top 20 on the list of the 2020 Best Workplaces in Europe in our category.
The list publication comes amid the COVID-19 crisis, which has upended daily life and business operations throughout the world. Organizations on the list are leading the way on employee empathy culture, demonstrating care for their employees, their customers, and their communities during this difficult time. To be considered for the 2020 Best Workplaces List in Europe, companies must appear on one or more of the Great Place to Work national lists in the European region. The European region includes Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The Great Place to Work European list is produced by analyzing 1.46 million surveyed employees.
Norwegian companies are represented in all categories, with FotoWare being the highest ranked.
The CEO of Great Place to Work Norway, Jannik Krohn Falck says it is impressive for a company to be first time on the list, and he is impressed about the focus FotoWare demonstrates on culture and diversity.
“Fantastic culture! One of the best workplaces in Europe is a fantastic accomplishment! I am very impressed with the strategic focus on culture and leadership at FotoWare. The strong commitment and alignment start at the top and is integrated across the organization. The culture is strong and inclusive, and leadership is built on trust – a true asset in the extreme situation we all face.”
- Jannik Krohn Falck, CEO & Managing Partner, Great Place to Work Norway
Great Place to Work Norway highlights three strong characteristics at FotoWare which they see have contributed to the strong results and the great workplace culture:
Great Place to Work’s global research shows that high-trust cultures for all employees are the defining characteristic of great workplaces, but that there are some regional variations. Best Workplaces in Europe stand out for their unusually equitable cultures compared to most of the world. Employees in Europe believe promotions are fair, that there is equal opportunity for special recognition, and that company profits are shared fairly to a degree that is unusual around the world. The Best Workplaces in Europe also distinguish themselves through leaders whose actions match their words and who avoid workplace politics as a way to get things done.
As a result, employees at the Best Workplaces in Europe who feel their employers are committed to fair treatment reciprocate with extra effort and loyalty — fueling greater company performance.
“Creating an environment where everyone is included, and every voice is heard is a prerequisite for success as a company. FotoWare can proudly say that is part of our culture, and it is reflected in employee satisfaction surveys, but also in our business performance”
- Bettina Isabelle Berntsen, Marketing Manager at FotoWare
FotoWare got the Great Place to Work certification for the first time in 2019, showing a very high workplace satisfaction overall, and the results improved again in this year’s survey. This is a true testament to the work we do in building an inclusive and caring culture. It is not, and cannot be a one-off project, but rather stands at the core of everything we do.
FotoWare’s culture builds on the values of being Innovative, Responsible, Passionate and Caring, and all employees took part in deciding the values. The values guide us in decisions we make and how we treat each other, our customers and our community. Furthermore, this is reflected in the Great Place to Work workplace satisfaction survey and is also seen throughout the anonymous feedback section in the survey results.
“The people who work in FotoWare are truly amazing. Every person has passion for their role and takes pride in their job. I feel extremely proud to be part of a culture of genuine kindness and inclusiveness, with the tenacity and determination to succeed together.”
- Anne Gretland, CEO in FotoWare
"The COVID-19 pandemic highlights how critical it is for organizations to establish great workplaces for all employees prior to crises," said Michael C. Bush, Global CEO of Great Place to Work. "The trust, care and agility that are the bedrock of Europe's best workplaces help these organizations, their people and their communities survive and even thrive during periods of significant economic and personal stress."
“Congratulations to all employees at FotoWare. To be recognized as one of the very best workplaces in Europe is a huge accomplishment and recognition of the entire team. The strong commitment to develop the culture, focusing on trust, people, and diversity, is a strong inspiration, and best of all - also a proven business success.”
- Jannik Krohn Falck, CEO and Managing Partner of Great Place to Work, Norway.
