3 Reasons Why Publishers Need a Digital Asset Management App

By Amalie Widerberg on September 7, 2020

Over the last few years, the amount of new mobile apps has exploded. Many people rely on a combination of apps to benefit several parts of daily life, helping with anything from online dictionaries and grocery lists, to photo editing and even dieting. The new FotoWare mobile app is no exception, and is a perfect fit for anyone who regularly needs to store, manage, find or share files as a part of their work. We're proud to announce that we have now launched a new Digital Asset Management mobile app that is available for download on both Android and iOS.

The FotoWare mobile app is a great tool for all kinds of organizations, helping professionals across a wide variety of industries. For instance, it helps marketers manage their growing collections of content and it can also assist police forces to manage digital evidence. It should therefore not come as a surprise that our DAM mobile app can benefit those working in media and publishing as well.

Here are three reasons why everyone in publishing needs a Digital Asset Management app:

1. Upload, Find and Manage Files Outside the Office

For many working in publishing, it's normal to spend a lot of time outside of the office. For example, journalists will often be covering events, attending press-conferences, interviewing subjects and so on. Our new app makes it convenient to quickly and easily create and manage content in seconds. With the full functionality of a complete DAM system, users can easily scroll through archives and albums, search for assets by keywords, and run workflows.

Once you have found the file(s) you are looking for, you will find all the relevant file-information as well. This can include anything from copyright and usage restrictions, to information about the people or places in an image. In this way, you can always know whether or not you can use those files. Users can also connect directly to their organization’s CMS.

Uploading is also a simple operation with the DAM app. You can choose how many files you like, tag them with metadata and upload them directly from your mobile. This means you don’t risk losing your content if something were to happen to your equipment, and it is all safely stored within your organization’s DAM system. When uploading larger files, you don’t need to be stuck looking at the upload progress, as you can continue using the app while the files are uploading in the background.

2. Collaborate On Content Wherever You Are

It's not uncommon for people in publishing to be collaborating on content with someone who is located somewhere else. Sometimes, a lot of people will have to work together without any of them being in the same room. With the FotoWare app, collaboration is made effective and easy. You can quickly create collections of your files and share these both internally and externally.

If you want the people you are working with to be able to download and edit the content in the shared album, you can enable them to do so, or you can choose to only let them view the content. You can also rate certain files, making it easy for you to communicate to your team-members which files should be considered as power pictures.

3. Meet Your Deadlines Faster

It's no secret that the publishers have strict deadlines they have to make every single day. The FotoWare mobile app is designed to make the process of administrating files as simple and effective as possible. For instance, with only a few clicks, all workflows can be managed on the go, and your digital assets can automatically be sent for approval to someone else within the organization. If you need to reuse some of your files, these can easily be located and downloaded anywhere, at any time.

Pre-configured lists, or taxonomies, make it easy to save time too, while also ensuring consistency across the organization. This enables both you and your colleagues to find and use your content, by keeping your DAM organized. As mentioned, you can collaborate on files with your colleagues without being in the same room – you don’t even have to be in the same country. You can share an album with your editor, even if you are working from a remote location, and your editor will be able to view and edit the content in seconds. Your entire team can FotoWare any file from anywhere, which can be crucial to help you make those deadlines!
