High-resolution image zoom and new upload module available on the FotoWeb demo site

Beta versions of a new high-resolution image zoom tool and a multi-file upload module have now been made available for public testing on the public FotoWeb demo site.

New high-resolution zoom tool

FotoWare recently released two new tools on its public FotoWeb demo site. The new zoom tool allows users who require greater detail when evaluating images to open the preview screen and, using a flash-based plugin, zoom in and pan the image freely. When zoomed in, an expandable navigation map makes it possible to quickly pick an area to study more closely.

To try out the zoom tool:

  • Go to the FotoWeb demo site (http://fotoweb60.fotoware.com/fotoweb/Grid.fwx)
  • Double-click a thumbnail in the default image archive to open the preview page.

  • Zoom and pan around using the various available tools:
The Slider lets you adjust the zoom level by dragging.
The Magnifying glass can be used to zoom in or out in any part of the image. Press the Ctrl-key to toggle between Zoom in/out.
The Hand tool is used for panning around the image by clicking and dragging.
The Reload button can be used to reload the original preview.
The Navigation map icon (far right) is used for expanding or hiding the navigation map. Move the red frame in the navigation map to zoom in on another area.

New FotoWeb upload tool

The new FotoWeb Upload Tool is a huge improvement over the old multi-file upload functionality in FotoWeb. It allows you to select any number of files to upload using a standard system dialog box and send them all off in a single operation. Even though this kind of multi-file upload has been available in FotoStation for quite some time, we believe that incorporating this module in FotoWeb will make it even more practical for the end-user to upload files directly from the web interface.

To try out the Upload tool:

  • Go to the FotoWeb demo site (http://fotoweb60.fotoware.com/fotoweb/Uploads.fwx) The link here will take you directly to the Upload page.
  • Click on the Upload files button at the top of the screen to trigger the upload module.

  • Finally, click on the large green upload symbol and choose the files you want to upload using the standard file system dialog box. You can select several pictures if you like. When you click OK the upload starts and the files are placed in the upload area on the FotoWeb server.

Note: Both the above tools are still in beta and may therefore produce unexpected results. Please report back to us if you experience such behavior.

Case Studies
“First, the response time for photo requests has been cut considerably and second, for the first time we are able to have a complete overview of all the photos that are important to us.”
