Infoglobo publishes the newspapers O Globo, Extra and Diário de S. Paulo, owns the news agency Agência O Globo and publishes the internet websites O Globo Online, Globo+ and Banco de Imagens.
 

Before FotoWare:
What kind of archive and workflow solution did you use?
In 2002 the company started the migration from analog to digital cameras, but no solution was implemented to store the digital photos produced every day. We used the Digital Collections solution for the image workflow on the newspapers, but the cost to store all the photos was too expensive.

What problems or challenges did your organization experience before you started using FotoWare?
We wanted to store the photos in a less expensive media, but the archiving solutions did not allow this.

What were your counter arguments against implementing a more efficient workflow solution?

In what way does FotoWare meet your expectations?
With regards to the problems or challenges you had before FotoWare?
It made a big change for the news agency (Agência O Globo), because after FotoStation, they have much broader range of images to sell, with a great quality. No photos are lost, so the digital photos archive of Infoglobo is one of the best in Brazil.

Are there problems solved now that you previously were not aware of?
If yes, what kind of problems:

The news agency uses the FotoStation to have more flexibility to generate various versions of the same photo, which offers different options to the clients.
The documentation area is using FotoStation and Index Manager to start a project to digitalize and index the first pages of the newspaper, from the fist edition to present days and store de files on DVDs. It was impossible before the FotoWare suite.

In what way has the daily work become easier?
FotoStation gives all the photographers much more options to view and edit the photos they make. They act as editors to their own material.
The automatic processes of Color Factory and Index Manager save time of the areas that work with digital photos in the newspapers.

Would you be willing to you give FotoWare a testimonial?
The FotoWare suite was a great investment. It changed entirely the way that digital photos were manipulated and created new ways to work and sell the material we generate every day.
