A simple, modular and universally compatible archive solution had to be found as the PR department of the electronics company Philips experienced an ever increasing demand for digital pictures. On one hand the new solution had to be compatible with the systems of the most important media houses. On the other hand it should be user friendly to the employees in the PR department. The number one alternative was Cameleon Standard.
―If you want to serve the press successfully today, of course you have to offer the journalist the related image material digitally, says Klaus Petri, Senior Manager Media Relations.
Every day the press centre of the German head office in Hamburg receives 15 to 20 requests for image material from journalists. They also prepare presentations for press conferences as well as image supported online news. The Philips press related image archive is put together of approximately 10 000 images of persons, constructions, products, events and illustrations. Yearly more than 1000 images are being added to the archive, and the growth rate is increasing rapidly.
―The productivity is very important to us. Just like every other press center, we have to deliver on the fly. Therefore the software not only has to provide the required functionality, but also has to warrant a very high throughput. In daily practice Cameleon Standard has really convinced us in this respect, Mr. Petri concludes.
