Offline archiving
Index Manager supports offline archiving for files stored on cd-roms, other
removable media or files only accessible through slow links. Index Manager will
store a low resolution thumbnail of the files on the server hard drive, and add
the caption to the index. FotoStation clients will then be able to see all the
files in the archive, even if they are not physically accessible. If the user
requests the high-resolution file, FotoStation will ask the user to insert the
correct disk or point to the location where the file exists.
The offline archive can be maintained on the server or through FotoStation Pro
on a client computer – there is no need to access the server to add or remove
media. The easy-to-use interface makes the maintenance job fast and easy.
